Freelancing Workshop Held at Meherpur Shilpakala Academy Organized by Elance-oDesk
A day-long freelancing workshop was held on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the Meherpur District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium, organized by Elance-oDesk (now Upwork) and locally coordinated by Web Crit. The workshop aimed to promote freelancing as a professional career path and to guide participants on how to build successful online careers through global freelance platforms.
The event was presided over by Zoha Biswas, Chairman of Web Crit.
Motasim Billah Motu, Mayor of Meherpur Municipality, attended as the Chief Guest, while Mazedur Rahman Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General); Nazmul Hasan Topu, Mobilizer of Elance-oDesk; and Mamunur Rashid, Chairman of Alpha Digital, joined as Special Guests.
Speeches and Insights
During the workshop, several successful freelancers shared their personal journeys and experiences to inspire newcomers. Among the speakers were Munshi Jahangir Zinnat Hirok, Enamul Haque, Simson Mullick, Imran Hossain, Rasel Hossain, Tushar Imran, Polash, Rasel, Sumon Reza, and Alamgir Hossain. They discussed topics such as freelancing marketplaces, client communication, skill development, and the importance of professionalism in online work.
In his speech, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mazedur Rahman Khan emphasized the importance of building self-confidence and embracing technology:
“Remove all doubts from your mind and believe in your potential. You are born once—prove your worth. In this age of information technology, equip yourself with digital skills and contribute to the development of your district and country.”
Chief Guest Motasim Billah Motu, Mayor of Meherpur Municipality, encouraged participants to use the internet positively and productively:
“Use the internet wisely — benefit from its good sides and avoid the harmful ones. If we use technology for good, Meherpur will progress along with the rest of the world.”
