Elance-oDesk Freelancing Seminar Featured on Mujibnagar Khabor
A report on the Elance-oDesk Freelancing Workshop, organized by Elance-oDesk (now known as Upwork) and locally coordinated by Web Crit, was published on Mujibnagar Khabor. The day-long workshop was held on Sunday, December 7, 2014, at the Meherpur District Shilpakala Academy Auditorium, with Zoha Biswas, Chairman of Web Crit, presiding over the event.
The purpose of the workshop was to promote freelancing as a career opportunity for youth and to introduce participants to the global digital marketplace. The program provided valuable insights into how one can earn independently through online platforms by developing professional skills and technical competence.

The seminar was graced by Motasim Billah Motu, Mayor of Meherpur Municipality, who attended as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished guests included Mazedur Rahman Khan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General); Nazmul Hasan Topu, Mobilizer of Elance-oDesk; and Mamunur Rashid, Chairman of Alpha Digital.
Among the successful freelancers who shared their experiences were Munshi Jahangir Zinnat Hirok (Founder & CEO of Unique Soft), Enamul Haque, Simson Mullick, Imran Hossain, Rasel Hossain, Tushar Imran, Polash, Rasel, Sumon Reza, and Alamgir Hossain. They discussed how freelancing transformed their lives and encouraged others to take advantage of global opportunities through skill development.

In his speech, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mazedur Rahman Khan inspired participants to believe in themselves and embrace the digital era:
“Remove the stigma from your mind and awaken the greatness within. You are born once — prove your worth. In this age of information technology, make yourself skilled and contribute to developing your district through knowledge and innovation.”
Chief Guest Motasim Billah Motu, Mayor of Meherpur Municipality, emphasized the importance of using technology for good:
“Use the internet wisely and productively. Take advantage of its positive sides and avoid the harmful ones so that Meherpur can move forward alongside the rest of the world.”

Trainers and speakers at the workshop stated that freelancing can provide significant income opportunities for those who are skilled and disciplined. They stressed that proper training, perseverance, and continuous learning are essential for success in the freelancing world.
The report published by Mujibnagar Khabor concluded that such workshops are instrumental in empowering youth, building digital capacity, and reducing unemployment — helping Meherpur become an emerging hub of skilled freelancers contributing to Bangladesh’s digital economy.
