Freelancer to Entrepreneur Logo Opening Ceremony Held in Meherpur

News Published on Bangla Post 24

Freelancers across Bangladesh are earning substantial foreign income and contributing greatly to the national economy. However, despite their success, they continue to face a lack of social and governmental recognition in society.

Unlike traditional professions that come with official certifications and established social status, the freelancing profession still lacks proper acknowledgment. While Bangladeshi freelancers have earned international respect in the global digital arena, their work often goes unrecognized locally. Many people still do not understand what freelancers actually do on their computers or how much they earn from online platforms.

As a result, freelancers frequently struggle to explain their profession. In many cases, they are misunderstood and even considered unemployed, despite their valuable contributions to the country’s economy through foreign remittance.

Freelancers have called on the Government of Bangladesh to ensure official and social recognition of the freelancing profession and to expand digital employment opportunities to rural areas, helping more young people build sustainable online careers.

    Event Overview

These issues were discussed during the Freelancer to Entrepreneur Logo Opening Ceremony, held on the afternoon of May 7, 2014, at the Meherpur District Commissioner’s Conference Room.

At the event, renowned freelancer and entrepreneur Munshi Jahangir Zinnat highlighted the challenges faced by freelancers in gaining recognition and urged the government to take proactive measures to integrate freelancing into mainstream employment sectors.

In his address, Meherpur District Commissioner Mahmud Hossain assured that he would raise this matter with senior officials of the Ministry of ICT, emphasizing the importance of promoting freelancing as a respected profession nationwide.

    Guests and Participants

The Freelancer to Entrepreneur logo was officially unveiled by Meherpur District Commissioner Mahmud Hossain and MeherpurNews24.com’s Chief Editor Rafiqul Alam. ICT Ministry Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan also joined the ceremony live via video conference.

The event was attended by government officials, media representatives, and freelancers from different areas of Meherpur District.

This initiative, organized under the national “Freelancer to Entrepreneur” campaign, aims to give freelancers proper identity, recognition, and motivation — transforming them from digital workers into recognized entrepreneurs who are driving Bangladesh’s digital economy forward.
