Freelancer to Entrepreneur Logo Opening Ceremony Held in Meherpur

News Published on Meherpur News 24

Freelancers across Bangladesh are earning significant foreign currency by working on international platforms and contributing to the country’s economy. Yet, despite their growing success, they still struggle to achieve social and governmental recognition within society.

While traditional professions receive formal certification and enjoy established social status, the freelancing profession — despite its international reputation — remains undervalued at the local level. Many people are unaware of what freelancers actually do on their computers or how much they contribute by earning foreign income from home.

As a result, freelancers often face difficulties explaining their profession. They are sometimes perceived as unemployed or unproductive, even though they are among the most active contributors to Bangladesh’s digital economy.

Freelancers have urged the Government of Bangladesh to ensure official and social recognition for the freelancing profession and to promote it in rural areas, helping create more opportunities for youth employment and skill development.

    The Event in Meherpur

These concerns were discussed at the Freelancer to Entrepreneur Logo Opening Ceremony, held on the afternoon of May 7, 2014, at the Meherpur District Commissioner’s Conference Room.

At the event, prominent freelancer and entrepreneur Munshi Jahangir Zinnat emphasized that freelancers are representing Bangladesh globally with dignity and excellence, yet face challenges in their own communities due to lack of awareness. He called for social acknowledgment to motivate rural youth to engage in freelancing and digital entrepreneurship.

In response, Meherpur District Commissioner Mahmud Hossain assured participants that he would discuss the matter with senior officials of the Ministry of ICT, highlighting the importance of integrating freelancing as a recognized profession in the national framework.

    Guests and Participants

The Freelancer to Entrepreneur logo was officially unveiled by Meherpur District Commissioner Mahmud Hossain and MeherpurNews24.com’s Chief Editor, Rafiqul Alam. ICT Ministry Secretary Nazrul Islam Khan also joined the event live via video conference, expressing his appreciation for the initiative.

The program was attended by government officials, journalists, and freelancers from across Meherpur District.

The ceremony marked an important milestone in the national effort to promote freelancers as recognized entrepreneurs — a vision aimed at transforming Bangladesh’s digital workforce into a globally respected and locally acknowledged community of professionals.
