The inauguration ceremony took place on December 16, 2014, at the Kalachand Memorial Hall of Meherpur Municipality. The website, MayorMotu.com, aims to provide detailed information about the mayor’s biography, municipal development projects, and future plans — making local governance more transparent and accessible to citizens.

Freelancing Initiative Announced

During the event, Mayor Motasim Billah Motu announced a new initiative to promote outsourcing and freelancing among the youth of Meherpur. With the support of Meherpur Municipality and under the supervision of Unique Soft BD, led by Munshi Jahangir Zinnat (Hirok), free freelancing training will be provided starting from the following month.

This training program will be designed to help local young people acquire digital skills, enabling them to work on international freelance platforms and earn independently. The initiative reflects the mayor’s vision to create a more digitally empowered and self-reliant Meherpur.

Event Highlights

At the orientation program, Soyeb Rahman and Yazdani Ullash, web developers from Unique Soft BD, also spoke about the project. They shared how the website would help bridge communication between the municipality and the citizens by providing regular updates on civic activities, development projects, and public announcements.

Mayor’s Vision for Meherpur

In his speech as the chief guest, Mayor Motasim Billah Motu emphasized his commitment to modernizing the city. He announced plans to construct a landmark structure — the “71 Tower” — symbolizing the spirit of the Liberation War and serving as a new attraction for Meherpur.

He also called upon residents to work collectively to make Meherpur a city free from drugs and social ills, urging everyone to contribute to building a clean, vibrant, and progressive municipality.
