Recently We Attended on Freelancer 2 Entrepreneur Program

It is a matter of great disappointment that despite contributing significantly to the national economy by earning substantial amounts of foreign currency, freelancers in Bangladesh still lack proper social recognition. While traditional jobholders enjoy acknowledgment and government validation, freelancers — who are driving the digital transformation of the nation — often face ignorance and undervaluation.

In the global information and technology era, freelancers are highly respected and recognized. However, in Bangladesh, many still experience humiliation or misunderstanding when introducing themselves as freelancers, primarily due to public unawareness about this evolving profession.

    Logo Inauguration Ceremony at Meherpur

On May 11, 2014, a ceremony was held at the Meherpur District Commissioner’s meeting room to inaugurate the official “Freelancer to Entrepreneur” program. The program’s logo unveiling was conducted by District Commissioner Md. Mahmud Hossain in collaboration with the President of MeherpurNews24.com Editors Council.

The ceremony brought together freelancers, government officials, journalists, and ICT representatives to discuss the future of freelancing and digital entrepreneurship in Bangladesh.

During the event, Munshi Jahangir Zinnat, a nationally recognized freelancer, entrepreneur, and Founder of Unique Soft, raised a formal appeal for social and governmental recognition of freelancing as a legitimate and respected profession.
    He emphasized that:

“By acknowledging freelancing as a recognized profession, we can inspire countless young people in rural areas to pursue this opportunity, contribute to the economy, and build a self-reliant digital Bangladesh.”

    Government Acknowledgment

In response, District Commissioner Md. Mahmud Hossain assured that the proposal would be submitted to higher authorities of the Bangladesh Government, including the ICT Ministry, for further consideration.

The event was also joined virtually by Mr. Nazrul Islam Khan, Secretary of the ICT Ministry, through video conference, where he praised the initiative and reaffirmed the government’s continued support for the Freelancer to Entrepreneur development programs across the country.

    Conclusion

Freelancers from across Meherpur district participated in the event, making it a successful and inspiring gathering. The ceremony not only strengthened unity among freelancers but also highlighted the urgent need for formal recognition and policy support for Bangladesh’s growing freelance workforce.

This program stands as a milestone in advancing the country’s digital empowerment and entrepreneurship goals, reflecting the spirit and vision of dedicated professionals like Munshi Jahangir Zinnat.
